Android app

Ocean app is an android app for the locals to get their groceries in a few hours right at their doorsteps.

Project date

Aug/Sep 2019

The main objective was to show the items according to the entered/detected location of the customer. The closest vendors would be selected and the product listed by those vendors would be shown in the app.

My Role

Research, wireframing, prototyping, UI design, Design system.

The initial plan was to launch the app only in two cities: Nagpur and Wardha. A total of 4 apps were designed under this project: customer's app, vendor's app, delivery people's app & marketer's app. I have covered the customer's app in this case study.

Research & Planning

I started with researching about the grocery apps like Grofers, Bigbasket, etc who are well known and there is a lot to learn about common patterns from these apps. Whenever I design, I like to look at many different sources of inspiration, not just the competition. So I looked for different kinds of apps in the fields of fashion, restaurant, map, and even Behance app. Then I created a mood board for the necessary features to cover in the app.

User flow

The main user-flow needed to be robust and well-directed. The location of the user is needed in between the onboarding screens, before reaching the home screen. Users can change the location from there, if needed.

Typography, colors & icons

UI Screens

The app is doing great in the local market and has been up on the Google playstore with an average rating of 4.8 stars (500+ customers reviews). Playstore link
